Flash flood forces Kedah school to close early

All the 368 pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Jabi here were allowed to return home early today after floods hit the school.

The school Parent-Teacher Association president, Zakaria Ismail, said parents were summoned to fetch their children at about 10.30 am after the floodwaters rose to 0.5 metres and the pupils had to be moved to the upper floor.

He said the floodwaters struck at 8.30 am following heavy rain since 4 am.

"The floodwaters flowed fast and the drains were unable to take the volume," he said.
