Flash flood in Kuching city subsides, one evacuation centre remains in Serian

Flash flood that hit most of the places around the city this morning has subsided while the number of victims at the flood evacuation centre in Serian district continues to decline to 260 people from 82 families this evening.
Sarawak Civil Defence public relation officer Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim said all the flood victims were being housed at the evacuation centre in the Gedong community hall after the Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanah Puteh evacuation centre was closed at 3.30pm.
She said the decline was quite significant compared to this afternoon, which saw 629 people from 193 families housed at the two evacuation centres.
Meanwhile she said no new evacuation centre was opened today even though several places around the city was reported to be submerged due to flash flood caused by heavy rain this morning.
She said the flash flood water had subsided in most places by this evening.
