BATU PAHAT: A total of 204 victims of flash floods in Sri Gading, near here yesterday, are still taking shelter at the temporary evacuation centre (PPS) as of 8 am today.
According to a statement issued by the Batu Pahat District Disaster Management Committee, all the victims consisted of 57 families.
It said the PPS at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Sri Gading which opened at 1 pm yesterday housed victims from Taman Sri Panchor, Kampung Sengkuang, Kampung Baru Sri Gading, Pekan Sri Gading and Kampung Sri Tanjung.
The flash floods occurred following continuous heavy rain from 1.30 am until 5.30 am, coupled with the high tide phenomenon at around 3 am.
Several facilities, such as Sri Gading Health Clinic and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Gading, were also affected.
