Flash floods hit several areas in Kubang Pasu following heavy rain since 3.30 pm.
The affected areas are KM13.3 north-south highway, near Kampung Batas Jenalik; KM16 north-south highway, near Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan, Hosba junction and Universiti Utara Malaysia staff quarters.
Other inundated villages are Kampung Lembah Keriang, Kampung Sungai Petani, Kampung Belukar and Kampung Baru.
Kubang Pasu Civil Defence officer Kamarulzaman Kasa said other locations might also be flooded eventually, as they are in the water flow line.
"The water at Sungai Padang Terap Kampung Kubu has reached dangerous level.
Residents are advised to be prepared," he said here on Saturday night.
The flood waters have inundated six houses at Kampung Lembah Keriang, 30 in Kampung Sungai Petani, 15 in Kampung Belukar and eight in Kampung Baru.
Police and the Fire and Rescue Department have been asked to be on stand-by as the water continues to rise.
Meanwhile in Kampung Changkat Setoi here, some residents have begun moving part of their belongings to the village community hall even though the Welfare Department has not issued any directive for them to do so.
