Flight turnback: MH198 rescheduled to depart 12 noon

The Malaysian Airlines (MAS) flight to Hyderabad which made an air turnback early this morning, will be rescheduled to depart at 12:00 noon today (Saturday).

In a statement by the national carrier, the MH198 will operate as MH198D and depart from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), and arrive Hyderabad at 01.35 pm the same day.

"MH198 has been rescheduled to operate as MH198D to depart Kuala Lumpur at 12:00 noon on 14 September and expected to arrive Hyderabad at 01.35 pm the same day," the statement said.

Meanwhile, MAS confirmed that the air turnback was due to technical problem, though it did not have any impact on the safety of the aircraft or passengers.

It said that the turnback was made as a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.

"The aircraft landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 2:01 am uneventfully. Upon arrival, passengers and crew disembarked safely and was given accommodation at nearby hotels," said MAS.

The airline expressed regret on the disruption and reiterates that the safety of its passengers remains the utmost priority.

Today, AirLive.net reported that flight MH198 made a turnback shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue.

The plane however, safely landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang.

According to the report, the plane made the turnback after detecting some problems on its onboard computers.
