KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 21,544 flood evacuees from 6,563 families are still being housed in relief centres in five states tonight.
This is a decline from 21,846 this evening. All evacuees are being sheltered at 138 centres in Kelantan, Selangor, Pahang, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan.
In SELANGOR, the Social Welfare Department's Info Bencana app showed that the number of evacuees dropped to 8,644 people in 45 centres compared to 8,715 people in 46 centres this evening.
The Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) announced in a statement at 6.30 pm that continuous heavy rains had fallen in Hulu Langat for two hours.
The department advised residents in low-lying areas and flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and to comply with instructions from the authorities if needed.
In NEGERI SEMBILAN, flood evacuees dropped to 58 individuals from 19 families compared to 82 people from 26 families this evening. Also, the relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Dato Undang Abdullah was closed at 4 pm, leaving only two centres in operation in Jelebu.
In PAHANG, 12,692 evacuees are still being housed in 90 relief centres in the districts of Kuantan, Pekan, Maran, Temerloh, Bentong and Bera tonight.
The website publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my meanwhile reported only two rivers in the state were at warning levels, Sungai Lipis in Benta showing an upward trend, while Sungai Kundang in Maran showing a downward trend.
Also, the state disaster management committee secretariat reported at almost all roads have reopened, except at nine locations, including Jalan Kuantan-Segamat in Pekan, Jalan Kuala Lipis-Jerantut (Jerantut), Jalan Ulu Dong (Raub), Jalan Bentong-Gua Musang (Lipis) and Jalan Sungai Lembing (Kuantan).
The number of flood evacuees in KELANTAN dropped as of 9 pm with 152 people from 46 families compared to 218 people from 69 families this evening, at two relief centres at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Tok Deh and SK Gual Periok in Pasir Mas.
Also, the DID website publicinfobanjir.water.gov.my reported that no main rivers in the state were at danger levels.
The number of flood evacuees in MELAKA continued to remain at 26 people from eight families at a relief centre at SK Penghulu Benteng in Jasin as of 8 pm.
