KUALA LUMPUR : The flood situation across the country continues to worsen, with the number of victims in nine states reaching 120,272 people from 36,212 families as of 7.30 a.m. today.
All flood victims are currently housed in 700 temporary evacuation centers (PPS) nationwide.
According to the InfoBencana portal by the Social Welfare Department (JKM), the majority of victims are recorded in Kelantan, with 80,735 people from 24,961 families sheltered at 279 PPS across 10 districts.
The affected districts in Kelantan are Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai, Bachok, Kota Bharu, Machang, Jeli, and Gua Musang.
In Terengganu, the number of flood victims has also risen to 31,183 from 8,752 families across 324 PPS in eight districts: Setiu, Besut, Hulu Terengganu, Kemaman, Dungun, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, and Kuala Nerus.
Meanwhile, in Kedah, 4,562 victims from 1,434 families are housed in 51 PPS across six districts: Kubang Pasu, Sik, Kota Setar, Padang Terap, Kuala Muda, and Pokok Sena.
The number of victims in Negeri Sembilan now stands at 2,247 people from 632 families across four districts, sheltered in 24 PPS in Tampin, Kuala Pilah, Jempol, and Port Dickson.
In Perlis, 488 victims from 145 families across three districts are taking refuge in four PPS in Arau, Kangar, and Padang Besar.
In Selangor, the number of flood victims is 473 people from 119 families, with two PPS opened in Klang.
In Melaka, the number of victims has risen to 228 people from 61 families, sheltered in six PPS in three districts: Jasin, Alor Gajah, and Melaka Tengah.
The number of victims in Perak remains at 20 people from seven families housed in one PPS in Kerian district.
Meanwhile, in Johor, the number of victims has increased to 336 people from 101 families housed in nine PPS in two districts: Tangkak and Segamat.
