Flood victims in Terengganu rise to 2,353 as at noon

The number of victims evacuated due to floods in Terengganu have risen to 2,353 as at noon today from 2,312 at 9am.
According to a statement issued by the state Security Council (MKN) here currently five districts in Terengganu affected by floods were Kuala Terengganu, Hulu Terengganu, Setiu, Besut and Marang.
Kuala Terengganu recorded the highest number of 1,594 victims from 412 families, who were placed in 11 evacuation centres, comprising schools and civic centres at present.
In Hulu Terengganu, 47 victims from 17 families were placed at the Bukit Kolam community hall, Kampung Kemat Umno building and Cenerong Lebam mosque.
While in Setiu, 32 victims from nine families were moved to three centres at Kampung Sunrai Lerek community hall, Kampung Sungai Pinang mosque and Rhu Tapai community hall.
In Marang, 677 victims from 163 families were placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Rhu Sila and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Payong. A new evacuation centre has been set up in Besut at Kampung Beris Pak Abu to accomodate three families.
A Bernama survey at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kompleks Gong Badak revealed the evacuation process had gone smoothly so far, with most of the victims met expressing their satisfaction at the services rendered by the various government agencies.
