TEMERLOH: Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail yesterday called on the Pahang people to fly the Jalur Gemilang and the state's flag to enliven the national month celebration.

He said the flags should be flown with pride at residential and business premises, educational institutions as well as offices to ignite the spirit of patriotism among the people.

"The Jalur Gemilang and the state flag should not only be flown in August but should be done all the time. This practice should be trending and cultivated so that we don't forget our origins," he said.

He said this at the launching ceremony of the state-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2022 at Semantan Walk here yesterday, which was also attended by the state Tourism, Culture, Environment, Plantation and Commodity Committee chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin.

Also present were state police chief Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf and Information Department director Sabarudin Yeop Hamza as well as directors of other state government agencies.

Wan Rosdy also advised the Pahang people to remain united and avoid racial strife that would only harm the state and nation.

He urged the people to respect each other for a more peaceful life without conflicts and animosity that will ultimately harm the harmony that has been built over the years.

"Political and state stability is very important so that more development projects can be implemented smoothly to draw investors and bring revenue to the state government which will eventually be returned to the people in the forms of development and assistance to eligible individuals," he added.

Wan Rosdy also stressed the importance of reminding young people about the struggle of past heroes such as Mat Kilau, Datuk Bahaman and Tok Gajah against the colonialists so that the new generation does not forget the sacrifices of previous generations.
