The Terengganu Veterinary Service Department has detected four cases or foot and mouth disease this year and measures have been taken to prevent its spread, its director, Dr Abdul Razak Mohd Zailan said.
He said the cases, involving four cows, were detected in four villages in Kuala Terengganu.
However, there has been no report of death involving the foot and mouth disease this year, he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
He said instruction had been issued to all the district veterinary offices to carry out vaccination exercise.
He also advised cattle breeders to immediately lodge a report with the department should they detected their animals being infected with the disease.
"For the moment, we advise the cattle breeders to not let their cattle to roam freely to facilitate our officers in conducting the vaccination exercise," he added.
