Ford is returning to Le Mans!
Has it really been 50 years since Ford’s famous 1-2-3 outright victory at the prestigious Le Mans? Apparently it has and 50 years after that famous victory, the company is proud to announce that they are returning to Le Mans 24 Hours race this year after the ACO confirmed their places.Come June 18-19, all four Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTs will be competing in the GTE Pro class glory at the world’s most famous endurance race going head to head with the GT establishments like Ferrari, Corvette, Porsche and Aston Martin.
The Ford GT racing cars are based off the new Ford GT supercar that we got acquainted with last year. The supercar is the pinnacle of the Ford Performance division with a body made of lightweight carbon fibre construction and already equipped with state-of-the-art aerodynamics along with an efficient Ford EcoBoost engine under the bonnet.
“It was great to see all four Ford GTs up there on the Le Mans entry list today,” said Dave Pericak, Ford Performance global director, who attended this afternoon’s press conference in Paris. “Newcomers are by no means guaranteed an entry, whatever their history or ambitions, so we thank the ACO for giving Ford the opportunity for a four car assault in June.”

We have prepared well and can't wait to get the Ford GTs onto the track there and show everyone what they can do.”
The two Ford Chip Ganassi Racing cars that are already racing in the FIA World Endurance Championship will keep their race numbers, #66 and #67, for Le Mans while the remaining two Ford GTs that run in the IMSA WeatherTechSportsCar Championship will receive new race numbers just for the race #68 and #69.
Ford will be announcing the driver line-ups in the WEC cars at a later date along with the identities of the third drivers for all the Ford GTs at Le Mans. Stay tuned for more news!
