Ford sees a jump in sales after new Ranger introduction

As Ford’s best-selling nameplate in Malaysia, the newly introduced Ranger found 707 new homes with the XLT variant and the top the range Wildtrak leading the sales. Year-to-date sales for the Ranger have jumped 12 per cent to 8477 units since its introduction to our country 15 years ago.

The massive increase in sales isn’t the only success the Ranger enjoyed in November, the ASEAN NCAP has awarded the pickup truck a maximum five-star safety rating with a total Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) score of 15.45/16 points. That is the highest score a pickup truck has ever been awarded in Malaysia. The Ranger was also awarded the title “Pick-up Truck of the Year” at the recently concluded 2015 ASEAN Car of the Year awards. Ford’s new Ranger is available with either a 2.2-litre Duratorq four-cylinder diesel engine or a 3.2-litre Duratorq five-cylinder diesel engine. It has the segment’s highest payload capacity of up to 1200kg and has the ability to wade through up to 800mm of water that is a new record for the pickup segment in Malaysia. The Ranger has a full suite of active and passive safety features with six airbags along with Land Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Forward Collision Warning.
