Foreign Ministry monitoring Malaysians involved in Bersih 4 overseas

The Foreign Ministry will be responsible for monitoring and observing Malaysians involved in Bersih 4 rally overseas.

Its deputy minister, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said, all information concerning those involved would be submitted to the relevant authorities for appropriate action.

"Whatever findings from the observation will be channelled to the respective agencies and authorities in our country. Whether they want to take action will be entirely up to the agencies concerned.

"For example, if the people involved are students sponsored by Mara (Majlis Amanah Rakyat) we will refer them to Mara. It is entirely up to Mara to take action, students on Mara scholarship are bound by a certain code of conduct," he told reporters after launching the Mobile Community Transformation Centre programme here yesterday.

In the meantime, Reezal Merican who is also Kepala Batas MP, advised Malaysians who organise illegal gatherings abroad to be cautious and comply with the laws of the country.

He said some foreign countries do not want local political problems being brought to their country. Singapore is one such country which does not allow this, he added.
