The Ministry of Health (MOH) said the incident of foreign workers fleeing the quarantine centre was not due to weakness in standard operating procedures (SOPs) implemented in the country.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said all foreign workers involved in the case were not COVID-19 positive but were ordered to undergo quarantine following close contact with positive cases.
"So far we have made police reports and police are taking action against those fleeing the quarantine centre.
"To date, 147 foreign workers have fled the quarantine centre, a construction group," he said at a daily press conference here today.
