Forensic team to start investigation after mopping
The forensic team stationed in the war-torn East Sabah will only be able to conduct full investigations on the dead bodies in the area once the mopping up exercise is completed.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar said it is unsafe for the forensic team to enter the areas where the Sulu gunmen died to conduct investigations.
“This is because the areas are too close to the areas in which we believe the remaining intruders are hiding.
“Once we complete the mopping exercise, then it is safer for them to conduct their investigations,” he said adding that parts of the investigation include identifying the bodies and performing post mortem.
He said so far they have only taken photos of the dead bodies from a safe distance.
