The Kedah government plans to hold promotions to encourage consumption of duck meat in the state as an alternative to chicken.
The state executive councillor in charge Datuk Suraya Yaacob said there was a great potential for duck meat in the local market.
"The Kedah government via Kumpulan Ladang Perbadanan Kedah owns a duck farm with 50,000 ducks in Sungai Petani with a capacity to slaughter 15,000 heads a week.
"However, demand is only from other states," she said.
She was speaking to reporters after visiting a day market site here Thursday. - Bernama
