Form Four student found drowned
Mohd Firdaus Azman's body was found about 20 metres from where he disappeared.
A form Four student from Batu Pahat, Johor, was found drowned during an outing with family members at Pantai Padang Kemunting, Pengkalan Balak, here Sunday.
Masjid Tanah Fire and Rescue station head, Asst Supt Shamsol Fuad Mohammad said the body of Mohd Firdaus Azman, 16, was found at 11.05am about 20 metres from where he disappeared while bathing in the sea.
The body was then sent to the Alor Gajah Hospital for a post-mortem.
He said a search party was mounted for the victim after the station received a call at 7.44am.
Mohd Firdaus' mother, Rosliza Kadir, 45, said the family had camped at the beach while on their way back to Johor after returning from a wedding feast in Cameron Highlands.
"We arrived here yesterday and decided to camp at the beach," she added.
