Khairul Rusidy Kamaruddin's condition was not critical because the snake that bit him was small in size.
A Form Three student of a fully residential school, Sekolah Dato' Abdul Razak (SDAR), Sungai Gadut here who was bitten by a snake on Saturday night, is in stable condition and was discharged after receiving treatment at the Hospital Tuanku Jaafar.
The victim's mother, Roziana Abd Rani, 47, said the doctor who treated his son, Khairul Rusidy Kamaruddin, 15, said that her son's condition was not critical because the snake that bit him was small in size.
"The incident happened while her son was returning to the hostel after performing Isyak prayers. The warden who knew of the incident had taken my son to hospital for treatment.
"An examination by the doctor revealed that my son had a snake bite on his right foot. However, after several days of treatment at the hospital, my son was allowed to return home...no further treatment was required," she said.
She said that her son was given leave until Wednesday and would resume schooling either next week or after the expiry of his medical medical leave depending on the condition of her son.
The incident was the second of three cases of students in the state being bitten by snakes in the school compound after a Year Two pupil was bitten by a snake during physical education at the school field in Rembau on April 20.
The first case that shocked the nation was when a Year One pupil died after being bitten by a snake on April 19 in school in Kota Baharu, Kelantan.
