Former deputy education minister dies

Former deputy education minister (1984-1956) Datuk Haji Bujang bin Ulis died at his home at 524, Kampung Semariang Jaya, Petra Jaya at 1.30am on Monday. He was 66.
The late Datuk Haji Bujang who served as a teacher in several schools in Sarawak had been appointed headmaster of a school in Kuching before his appointment as the deputy primary industries minister between 1980 and 1983.
The late Datuk Haji Bujang also known as Bujang Hadziri Ulis, was believed to have been in good health. He however, collapsed in front of his family after watching television.
He leaves behind his wife Maimunah binti Sebli, 58, and seven children (not including two who passed away) and three grandchildren.
Apart from being involved in the education field, he was also active in politics where he had once held the position as Batang Sadong MP. He also contested against Datuk Naroden Majais for the Simunjan State Assembly seat, however lost.
The body of late Datuk Haji Bujang will be buried after the Zohor afternoon prayers on Monday.
Those who called to his home included Datuk Paduka Ah Mordiah Tuanku Fauzi, Datuk Abdul Karim Hamzah, Datuk Naroden Majais, Datuk Putit Matzen, YB Sh Hasidah Syed Aman Ghazali and Datuk Talip Zulpilip.
