Former Governor of Sarawak Tun Abdul Rahman Ya'kub dies at age 87

Former Governor of Sarawak, Tun Abdul Rahman Ya'kub passed away just now at the Normah Medical Centre in Kuching, Sarawak.
Abdul Rahman died at around 9.30pm at the age of 87.
He was the third Chief Minister of Sarawak and the fourth Governor of Sarawak.
He was also an uncle of Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud - the fourth Chief Minister of Sarawak and the current Governor of Sarawak.
He also held two ministerial posts at the federal level.
Abdul Rahman was known as a fighter for Independence and the Malay language.
During his tenure as the Education Minister, Abdul Rahman was famous for his ‘Rahman Report’ which brought various transformation to the country’s education.
