Former headmaster claims trial for accepting RM4,400 bribe

Former headmaster of Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaaan (T) Rawang M. Subramaniam today claimed trial at the Shah Alam Sessions Court to two charges of receiving bribes from a canteen operator two years ago.
Judge Slamat Yahya set bail at RM5,000 with one surety and ordered Subramaniam to surrender his passport.
The 51-year-old was charged with receiving a Hong Leong Bank Berhad cheque of RM1,500 from K. Devaga while another RM2,900 cash at 3.15pm at the teacher’s pantry on Oct 8, 2014.
He was charged with accepting the bribe to provide a support letter for Devaga to extend his canteen contract in the school.
He was charged under Section 165 of the Penal Code, punishable with a jail term of up to two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
The case will be mentioned again on Jun 16.
