Former MIC veep Pasamanickam dies at 94

Former MIC vice-president Tan Sri G.Pasamanickam, 94, died of old age at his home in Muar, Johor, early today.
The veteran MIC leader was Bukit Anam assemblyman from 1969 to 1974.
Johor MIC chairman Datuk M. Asojan said Pasamanickam breathed his last about 12.45am.
"The funeral rites will be held tomorrow from 11.30am at his house at No 38, Jalan Ibrahim, Muar," Asojan said.
Pasamanickam, who was also a former senator, had served under the leadership of top MIC leaders Tun V.T. Sambanthan and Tan Sri V. Manickavasagam and held various posts in the party including MIC treasurer from 1994 to 2000 and Johor MIC chairman (1968 to 1995).
He was also a state executive councillor from 1974 to 1978 and appointed as chairman of Maika Holdings in 1991.
He leaves behind his wife Puan Sri Sarasa Pasamanickam, a son Dr P. Kannan and daughter P. Sunthari.
