A former public officer in Perak, who was charged with accepting bribes totalling RM149,600 on July 17, was charged again at the Sessions Court here today with three counts of accepting bribes totalling RM108,000 over the past two years.

Herman Ibrahim, 45, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges read before Judge S. Indra Nehru.

The former Kumpulan Selendang Perak Cultural Officer at the State Secretary’s Office was alleged to have committed the offence while serving as an agent to the Perak Sukma XIX Secretariat 2018.

Herman is alleged to have accepted RM50,000 from the owner of Ainaz Marketing in connection with official work in front of the RHB Bank in Jalan Tun Sambanthan here on Nov 21, 2018. He is also accused of accepting RM40,000 from the same company owner on Feb 1, 2019.

He is also alleged to have accepted RM18,000 from the owner of Shadess Event Planner in connection with official work at the State Secretary’s Office here on Nov 18, 2018.

Each charge, framed under Section 165 of the Penal Code, carries a maximum jail term of two years or/and fine, or both if convicted.

The judge allowed Herman bail of RM21,000 for all charges and set Aug 19 for case management.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Wahida Jalaluddin prosecuted, while Herman was represented by lawyer Khairilazwar Khalil.
