A former special aide to Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir today submitted an official application for a police permit to debate with his former employer.
Haris Che Mat, the special political officer to Mukhriz when he was Kedah menteri besar, arrived at Kubang Pasu district police headquarters (IPD) at 2.30pm accompanied by a friend.
"I proposed that the debate be held this Saturday (April 8). I also proposed April 15 as an alternative date since the organiser is required to make an application to the district police officer 10 days before the event.
"It is up to the police to give the approval since it comes under their jurisdiction. My treatment for kidney stones is not a problem," he told reporters outside Kubang Pasu IPD, here today.
Haris said the dialogue titled "The Wealth of Mahathir's Children" was scheduled to be held at 3pm on April 8 at Hotel Sera Inn, Padang Sera, Jerlun.
"I want to clarify that UMNO is not involved as the dialogue is between a former special officer to Datuk Seri Mukhriz when he was Kedah menteri besar.
"This debate is necessary because the people need to know how the wealth of Mahathir's children was obtained. It is my responsibility to reveal it."
On March 23, Haris challenged Mukhriz to debate the wealth of Mahathir's children, believed to be worth billions of ringgit.
Haris is Pokok Sena UMNO division vice-chief while Mukhriz is Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) deputy president. --Bernama
