Four foreigners, believed to be members of "Geng Ah Fatt", were shot dead at the People's Housing Project (PPR) at Hiliran Ampang, Jalan Ampang Putra, after a robbery at a VVIP's house in Bukit Antarabangsa, Hulu Kelang early today.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said the suspects, aged between 30 and 40, were shot when police raided the premises at about 12.20pm today following a tip-off.
He said police were forced to open fire when the suspects fired at them.
"Police searched the scene and found a pistol, believed to be a Revolver, a machete and jewellery, believed stolen from the VVIP's house," he said.
During the raid, he said, police also detained a local, in his 40s, on suspicion of buying some of the stolen jewellery at the premises.
Mohmad said the PPR unit where the raid was conducted was believed to be occupied by one of the suspects and his family.
"The house also served as a transit for the gang members before fleeing to Batam, Indonesia," he added.
He believed the gang members were also responsible for a robbery at a VVIP's house in Kuala Lumpur, where the owner was robbed of three pistols.
Police were now looking for two other members of the gang, he added.
