Police have detained four men to date whom they believe can help in investigations into the murder of a security guard in Yong Peng, near Batu Pahat, on Thursday.
Johor Police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said three of them were detained around Batu Pahat two days ago while another was arrested this evening at the KL International Airport 2 (KLIA2) departure hall.
"The men detained are aged from 24 to 34 years. The man at KLIA2 was detained at 4pm while he was about to depart for China, purportedly to escape," he said via a statement tonight.
Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said all would be remanded for further investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
He also urged the public not to listen to rumours or speculation disseminated via social sites such as Facebook on the case or take actions which could threaten security and public order.
On Thursday, the security guard, Nor Azee Abdul Rahman, 33, was found dead at 6.30 pm by members of the public in an oil palm estate in Jalan Muar-Yong Peng, near Batu Bahat.
His fully-clothed body, with his wrist watch still intact, was found face down with both hands tied. He had a slash wound on the neck, bruises on the stomach and cuts and blisters on the left arm.
Preliminary investigation found Nor Azee, who was from Taman Pantai, Batu Pahat was the same individual who was reported missing on Wednesday.
Police received a report on Nor Azee's disappearance from his wife at 5.20 pm on the same day.
