Four men arrested over Taman Austin Perdana surau commotion

Four men were arrested following the commotion outside a surau in Taman Austin Perdana, near here, on Friday.

Johor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Chief Senior Asst Comm Kamarulzaman Mamat said the case is being investigated for rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code.

He added the police had arrested four men, aged 21 to 55, at about 1am on Saturday.

Kamarulzaman also warned the public against speculating over the incident or giving out comments that would be detrimental to the nation.

Yesterday, a video featuring a commotion between a car driver and several members of a congregation at Austin Perdana surau had caused an uproar among social media users.

The commotion started after the car driver was said to be honking incessantly at some people for parking their cars by the road side and inadvertently caused delay in the traffic during the Friday prayer at the nearby surau.
