Four men assaulted a businessman, fired two shots at him and fled with his car as he was about to check in to a hotel here early today after driving down from Kuala Terengganu on business.
They hit Lee Siew Meng, 42, with hard and sharp objects and one of them fired the shots, badly injuring him in the right shoulder and left side of the body, said Pahang CID chief SAC Mohd Zakaria Ahmad.
He said Lee had driven up to the hotel in Jalan Air Putih at 4.15 am and was confronted soon after.
He was rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the bullets and was reported to be in stable condition, he added.
Mohd Zakaria said Lee was married and had three children.
He said police believed the motive of the four men was to rob Lee of his car because they left untouched his wallet containing RM988.
He appealed to eye-witnesses to contact any police station.
