Four states assemblies dissolved following Parliament dissolution

After Najib’s announcement, Perlis was the first state to dissolve its state assembly, followed by Sabah, Melaka and Perak.

Since Negeri Sembilan automatically dissolved itself on March 28 and Sarawak does not need to dissolve it state, that leaves eight states more to dissolve.

Bernama reported that Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, who is abroad, will be returning home tonight and the state’s Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said would be seeking an audience with the former soon.

Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob is expected to seek an audience with the Pahang Sultan Sultan Ahmad Shah, tonight, to seek his consent to dissolve the Pahang state assembly.

Johor is expected to dissolve its state assembly tomorrow, as there is no statement issued by its Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othmann on the dissolution.

Four states under the opposition rule, namely Penang, Kelantan, Selangor, Kedah are expected to make similar announcements late today or tomorrow.

Najib in his 1Malaysia website blog spoke about how their track record showed they were a government that delivers and kept its promises.

“In just four years we have taken tremendous strides on all these fronts. 84% of government contracts have been subjected to anti-corruption screening.

“Crime has fallen by nearly 10%. Over 3,500km of new roads have been built, and 200,000 homes have been connected to clean water.

“More than 5 million people have been helped with the cost of living, with 1Malaysia Stores and Clinics across the country,” he said, adding that Malaysians should be able to determine their own success, irrespective of race or religion.

“I am confident in my government’s record, and the manifesto we will release,” he said.

Meanwhile opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim welcomed Najib ‘s vow to ensure a peaceful transition of power. But he appealed for an ethical campaign amid escalating political violence in the run up to Election 2013.

“We urge all sides, particularly our friends from the Barisan Nasional to observe the proper ethical standards and honour the democratic process and principles governing the conduct of political campaigns.

“We pledge to do the same and to defend the security and peace of the nation and warn against irresponsible elements out to create trouble and mischief,” he said
