Four-year-old boy found charred in Tenom fire

A four-year-old boy was burned to death in a fire in Kampung Malalap, Tenom, about 173km from here, this morning.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Mohd Affendy K Ramin said the body of Itham Nick Ivan, was found charred in his bedroom at 7.40am.
He said a team from the Tenom Fire and Rescue Station arrived at the scene about 20 minutes after receiving a call.
"The 13-member team used two fire trucks and a utility vehicle to put out the fire at 8.45am," he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Tenom Fire and Rescue Station chief Runzi Thani said firemen found the remains of the boy, who was staying with an aunt, charred in the bedroom, after putting out the fire.
"About 80 percent of the permanent house was destroyed," he said.
The cause of the fire and losses had yet to be identified, he added.
