Fourth body recovered in Sarawak boat mishap
The search team looking for eight missing passengers of a longboat that had capsized in Sarawak recovered the body of a woman Sunday.
Nursiah Abdullah, 45, was recovered at 2.56 pm at Batang Lassa near where the boat capsized, said Matu/Daro police chief DSP Wagner Lisa Libut.
The body has been taken to the Daro Hospital, he said.
Seven people are still missing after the longboat carrying 27 people capsized at Batang Lassa near Kampung Kut in Daro at about 1 pm yesterday.
The villagers of Kampung Tekajong were returning to their village after attending a wedding in Kampung Saai when a huge wave capsized the boat.
Sixteen passengers swam to safety, three women drowned while eight others went missing following the mishap.
The recovery of Nursiah's body today raises to four the number of passengers who drowned in the tragedy.
