The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project has got nothing to do with the freak accident that killed a restaurant worker and injured his employer at Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang yesterday.
MRT Corporation clarified this matter following a Bernama report that said the steel structure which fell off a trailer and hit the car that the duo were travelling in, was being transported to be used in the project.
The report quoted Petaling Jaya Traffic chief DSP Wong Siw Choon as saying so.
“MRT Corporation would like to clarify that the incident is in no way associated with the MRT project.
“We have checked with our contractors and they have confirmed that no movements of similar structures were planned for our sites yesterday,” MRT Corporation said in a statement.
The accident killed Kelvin Kumar, 24, who was travelling with his employer, Anisa Abdul Rahman, 43.
Wong had said that the car, with with Anisa at the wheel, was travelling towards the Federal Highway alongside the trailer when the iron frame fell onto them.
He had said that Anisa was sent to the Subang Jaya Medical Centre for treatment.
The driver of the trailer, in his 40s, has been detained to assist investigation.
