The four Sarawakian hostages who were released last Wednesday following their kidnap by the Abu Sayyaf militant group on April 1, are still in Sabah to facilitate police investigations.
"Still in Sabah. Not sure when they will return to Sarawak," Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun told Bernama via Whats App here today.
He said this when asked when the four men were expected to return to Sarawak.
The four were brothers Wong Teck Kang, 31, and Wong Teck Chii, 29, their cousin, Johny Lau Jung Hien, 21, and tugboat crew member Wong Hung Sing, 34.
They were kidnapped in Pulau Ligitan, Semporna, Sabah on April 1.
Last Friday, Sabah Police Deputy Commissioner Datuk Awang Sahari EM Nadzeer said the police had recorded statements from all the victims right after they arrived in Kota Kinabalu from Sandakan, on Wednesday.
He urged all parties not to make any speculation on the release of the victims which could mislead the public.
