Let’s investigate Lamborghini’s knack of turning common words into sexy car names, here are five of the most unique examples.

Let’s face it, everything in a language we’re unfamiliar just sounds ten times cooler, imagine if any company had named a car model the Hurricane, we would all have taken it as a joke. But when Lamborghini launched their Huracan, we had ohhh-ed and ahh-ed at the awesome looking car and were immediately taken by the sexy name.

Have you noticed Lamborghini’s knack of turning common words into sexy names for their cars? It wouldn’t have made such a huge impact if the words had been in English. So this week, we look at the five names that Lamborghini had christened their cars that if translated would have had us laughing our heads off.

Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

Alright, this car is no laughing matter. From the hexagonal holes to the undisguised carbon fibre the car is made of, the Sesto Elemento is one of the most amazing cars you can get from the Italian company. But, imagine if the name had been in English which is the "Sixth Element", it just lacks that epic impact that is due to the car don’t you think?

Lamborghini Veneno

It seems that when it comes to naming their supercars, Lamborghini deviates from its tradition to name their cars after famous bulls in the history of bull-fighting. While we would not have laughed if the company had decided to name their car the “Poison” which is what “Veneno” stands for, but how many of us would have taken the supercar seriously?

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

I’m sure that, even with your lack of familiarity with the Italian language, you would still know that “Leggera” translates to “light” in English. The name might have been a tribute to the construction style of the Lamborghini 350GT but it is also inspired by the variant’s emphasis on weight reduction.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante

Performante, it translates to “performance” in English. Lamborghini had created the Spyder Perfomante as the convertible version of the Superleggera, but like all coupe based convertibles the Performante had been too heavy to carry the namesake. Hence, the company’s decision to rename the car although the car does not symbolise an improve in performance.

Lamborghini Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce

Lamborghini recently released the Superveloce as the fastest variant of the Aventador model, as stated in the name “Super Velocity”. This is not the first time that Lamborghini had named a variant Superveloce, the first to have carried the name was the Murcielago Superveloce which the Aventador had been designed to replace in the first place!
