The Federal Territories Ministry will present details of the proposed new concept of Ramadan bazaar to the Special Committee on Ministerial Movement Control Order (MCO) on Thursday.
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said he would be accompanied by senior officials of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall and the Putrajaya Corporation and details would be provided on the guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) on its implementation.
The Ketereh MP said a presentation had been made at the previous Cabinet meeting but it was not in detail.
“The details will include how and where to drive through, the arrangement of the stalls, how many people can do business in the ‘drive-thru’ mode, does it meet the criteria for social distancing and so on.
"Pack and pick, which is a pre-order and come pick up an order at the designated place and another pack and pick, but in the form of pick up is e-hailing and it is they who will send it to the buyer," he said in a live broadcast on his official Facebook today.
Earlier, the government had ruled that no Ramadan bazaars in any form were allowed to operate throughout the country during the MCO period.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told the MCO daily media conference in Putrajaya today that the decision was to control the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak among Malaysians.
Meanwhile, Annuar, who is also the chairman of the Federal Territory Security Committee chairman, said his meeting with 100 representatives of the hawkers' association yesterday had reached an agreement.
Among others, he said, all the deposits they had paid for the Ramadan bazaar business would be carried over to next year.
"So next year, hopefully there would be no problems, they can continue to trade without paying any extra fees," he said.
