A man, wanted by the police for suspected armed robbery, was among eight people, all in their 20s, who were detained in a special operation held in the Ampang area here today.
The six-hour operation, code-named "Ops Cantas", ended at 6am.
Ampang Jaya district police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin said the suspect, a local, was wanted by police in four cases, including for a gang robbery in Hulu Kelang.
"The man was riding a motorcycle which was reported missing in Pudu last month when he was stopped and detained," he told Bernama here today.
He said two men were also detained at a road block in Ukay Perdana on suspicion of being involved in a house-breaking case.
Police found a screw-driver, a pair of gloves, two sets of walkie-talkie, a pen-knife, sprayer and some drugs in their car, he added.
He said besides mounting of road-blocks, the operation also involved checks on suspicious individuals at 24-hour restaurants in the Ampang area.
