Pertubuhan Gerakan Penegak Suara Selangor (Gapenas) and the Selangor Ex-Policemen's Association on Friday urged the Royal Malaysian Police to take stern action against the organisers of Bersih 5 rally.
Gapenas chairman Nasiruddin Mohamed also urged the police to prevent the holding of the rally.
"Based on the series of illegal Bersih rallies before, we are concerned that if it (Bersih 5) is allowed to take place it will affect public safety and public property because the organisers had proven to be unable to control the protesters.
"It can also affect the good image of the country and adversely affect the tourism industry.
"Kuala Lumpur traders are also very upset and worried because their income would be affected if the rally (Bersih 5) is allowed to take place," he told reporters after lodging a report at the Shah Alam district police headquarters.
Selangor Ex-Policemen's Association chairman Yusof Majid said anyone who was not satisfied with the government should show it through the vote in the coming general election.
The media had earlier reported that Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah told a press conference on plans to organise a convoy across the country ahead of the Bersih 5 rally, which is scheduled to be held on November 19. -- BERNAMA
