GE13: Gutter politics, slander, gangsters and corruption

The 13th General Election created its own history. A total of 579 (parliament) and 1321 (state assembly) candidates are ready to contest this time around.

The Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (ABIM) would like to wish everyone taking part , goodluck.

It is our hope that this election will see a healthy fight based on virtue of the candidates wanting to serve the people better.

We would like to take this opportunity to express about the political culture, which will be a wasteful effort for the country and the people, especially if it involves gutter politics, slander gangsters and corruption during this 13th general election.

Should this calling be violated, ABIM would like to call upon the Muslims to play their role with check & balance to those who are involved or practice such culture.

If violation occurs, Muslims and voters in general should protest against such an act and retract their support to those in question.

The election is a healthy democratic manifestation in this country. The sanctity of the election as a means to uphold the wishes of the rakyat should be defended at all cost and kept away from political practices that are destructive to the future of the country.
