KUALA LUMPUR: The Information Department (Japen) has activated a total of 14 virtual media centres (PPM) from Nov 3 until polling day on Saturday.
Japen's Media and Corporate Communications Division director Datuk E Sivabalan said PMM, an initiative of the Strategic Communications Division, Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, was a platform to channel information more easily and effectively to the media for coverage throughout the campaign period for the 15th General Election (GE15).
He said the information shared via WhatsApp groups was related to the campaign schedule of candidates from all parties contesting in the general election.
"We are inviting all media representatives and party information representatives such as Barisan Nasional, Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional, Pejuang Tanahair and other parties as well as independent candidates to share their schedule during campaign period.
"Representatives from the Election Commission are also invited to share all information related to GE15 to the media for public announcement," he told Bernama today.
Sivabalan said the virtual media centres were seen to be more effective compared to the physical ones, which were set up during previous general elections.
"All parties involved, especially the media, welcome and agree with the establishment of the PMM because it is more flexible and quick in gathering information and so on," he said.
