Penang Gerakan on Thursday expressed hopes of obtaining all necessary documents pertaining to the undersea tunnel and three expressway projects under Consortium Zenith BUCG without having to sign a Statutory Declaration (SD).
Its acting youth chief Jason Loo said that the party had paid RM500 to obtain four documents related to the project.
The documents are the agreement and approval/award papers between the state government and Consortium Zenith BUCG, the report relating to the feasibility study, itemised expenses for the feasibility study that cost RM305 million and all open tender documents related to the project.
"We want to know how the state government could be so kind to give away the 110 acres (44 hectares) of reclaimed land in Bandar Tanjong Pinang in return for the RM6.3 billion construction of the undersea tunnel and the three expressways which have yet to commence work," he told a press conference at Komtar yesterday.
Jason also questioned the state government on the actual deadline of the feasibility study for the undersea tunnel and the three expressways as based on the agreement, the report should have been completed in April 2014.
"In many occasions, Public Works, Utilities and Transport committee chairman Lim Hock Seng had claimed that the report was 83 percent complete and the latest, he claimed that the report would be done in July this year," he said.
Jason Loo said if the state government really practiced the Credibility, Accountability and Transparency (CAT) slogan, there was no need for anyone to sign a SD to obtain any information as the undersea tunnel and expressway projects concerned the public.
"Under section 11(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2012 the state authorities shall have the power to disclose all information regarding the project," he said.
