Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the internal struggle in MIC can only be addressed by a middleman.
He said the current leadership struggle in the party can never find a solution without a third party’s involvement.
“I think this problem need to be addressed by someone outside MIC. If they try to solve it between them, I don’t think they will be able to find a solution,” he said today.
Dr Mahathir said the right person to be the mediator to end the crisis is Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as he is the Barisan Nasional chairman.
When asked if he would like to be a mediator to help end the crisis, he said, “I am no longer a politician. I am just a critic.”
The MIC internal crisis arose after the Registrar of Socities (RoS) cancelled the election for the post of three vice presidents and 23 central working committee (CWC) members during the MIC general assembly in November, 2013.
In a letter dated Dec 5, 2014, RoS ordered MIC to hold a re-election for these posts within 90 days following allegations of irregularities and breach of the party constitution and Societies Act.
