SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government, via Tourism Selangor, has launched the 'Go Selangor' application to provide tourists full access to tourism products and to boost the economy in the state.
State Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman, Hee Loy Sian said the launch of the official Selangor tourism application was in line with his team's efforts in digitising the tourism industry in Selangor.
He said the application served as a 'one-stop centre' for various 'merchants' (operators/traders) to encourage tourists to explore the interesting locations in Selangor.
"The application is very convenient, and through it, we can purchase tickets, book hotels, chalets, homestays, transportation and various others. This is the only (state tourism) application available in Malaysia," he told reporters after launching the application and witnessing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Tourism Selangor and Tourplus at Red Carpet 2@i-City in Shah Alam here today.
Hee said there are so far more than 300 merchants who have registered on the application and his team is targeting the number to increase to 100,000 by the end of this year.
In addition, there will be no charge for the first year for those who want to register as merchants on the application. Subsequently, there will be a fee of RM300 per year.
The 'Go Selangor' application can be downloaded on the Google Play Store from today and on IOS from May onwards.
