Golden Globes 2016 Best Dressed List
Awards season is back again, and it’s time to get your champagne glasses ready and filled! The best thing about awards season is the red carpet hits and misses, we, however, would rather prefer to highlight the ones that looked the best that evening.
From Jennifer Lopez in a jaw-dropping marigold Giambattisa Valli dress complete with a small cape to Olivia Wilde looking delicious in a hot sequined and wine-hued custom Michael Kors halter dress, and even Viola Davis twinkled in a tulle ball gown with a dazzling plunging illusion neckline and flutter sleeves by Marchesa. The stars really pulled out all the stops this year and we are fixing our eyes on the scene-stealing ensembles that left us in awe and eternally green-eyed.
Kristen Dunst smouldered in a velvety black Valentino dress at the Golden Globes, not just for the stunning silhouette but the plunging neckline that left the actress almost bare-chested but in a classy Hollywood way. She certainly brought the sexy to the red carpet.
Jennifer Lopez wore an old Hollywood-inspired dress in a glamorous mustard colour, with a refined flair, which we love.
Jamie Alexander rocked an entrancing emerald gown, embellished with geometric metallic shapes. She stole the spotlight with the deep-V plunge and her look was definitely exceptional and risk-taking (which deserves mention).
Olivia Wilde in Michael Kors Collection was mesmerising, from the Bulgari jewellery to the plunging deep-V neckline! We love this burgundy gown on Wilde.
Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana was one word: spectacular. She could have been spotted from Mars with a shimmering sequined pink dress that we spent about 20 minutes just staring at.
Cate Blanchett can do no wrong. The style connoisseur is as elegant and graceful on the silver screen as she is on the red carpet, wearing a 1920s-inspired Givenchy dress. The pale pink fringed frock was simple yet definitely turned heads.
Jennifer Lawrence was of course in Dior for the Globes. JLaw was in a simple red cutout dress that complemented her figure. The combination of the obliques-baring Dior Haute Couture dress topped with more than 156 carats of Chopard diamonds really brought the style factor.
Corinne Foxx (Jamie Foxx’s daughter) was Miss Golden Globes this year and we can see where she got her good looks from, her dad. She wore a sheer white ball gown that made her look undeniably angelic.
Laverne Cox made her Golden Globes debut this year in an ivory crepe gown with a dramatic train custom made by New York designer Elizabeth Kennedy. It’s glamorous and made for a movie star moment for Cox.
Lady Gaga wore a custom Versace gown and looked terrifically glamorous, obviously inspired by old Hollywood – with the combination of an off-shoulder velvet gown and her ‘50s set hairdo. She did mention when receiving her award that she wanted to be an actress before a singer, and this look screams, “I am an actress now”.
