The government may impose restrictions on parents or guardians from bringing children to malls or supermarkets.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision would be made if there were still people who were not concerned about the health of children.
"The safety of our children is our responsibility. We must ask ourselves whether our children will be safe if they are in a crowd in closed areas such as supermarkets.
“So far, there are no (restrictions on bringing children). However, if this continues, the government can enact legislation under Act 342 to include bringing children to public places such as supermarkets and the like as prohibited in the current negative list,” he told a daily press conference here today.
Commenting on the compliance with the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) guidelines, Ismail Sabri said Malaysians were advised to continue to adhere to them by increasing self-control.
“Public compliance is quite high. So, I guess though there aren't really as strict rules as we did in MCO 1, 2 and 3, but people are beginning to realize their role.
“It includes protecting their own interests and self-control has begun to be exercised by the people.
"On behalf of the government, I would like to congratulate and thank the people for being able to be disciplined to keep themselves safe," he said.
To date, the Government has found that the compliance with guidelines under the CMCO, which began on May 4, were at a satisfactory level of about 95 per cent.
