The government is making strides in transforming its public service delivery system, especailly in healthcare.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said a programme to revamp the delivery service and care in hospitals was rolled out nationwide based on the success of the pilot scheme at the Sultan Ismail Specialist Hospital in Johor Baharu.
"Over 15.8 million medical cases have now been treated at 1Malaysia clinics nationwide.
"None of these achievements would have been possible without the sustained effort of the civil service," he said in the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) 2014 annual report.
He added that the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) was ranked last year as one of the Top 20 Leading Government Innovation Teams, a further testament of the role played by devoted civil servants in driving the country's progress.
Najib said besides that, poverty was eliminated through the Akhiri Zaman Miskin (1AZAM) Programme and in the last four years, a total of 168,483 Malaysians registered under the eKasih database had moved out of poverty due to such effort.
"1AZAM emphasises the development of financial skills and capacity building of those in need. To date, 64,689 Malaysians have participated in financial literacy programmes," he said.
Meanwhile, the prime minister noted the government's philosophy had always been based on the tenet of inclusiveness, and no NKRA better exemplified this than the Addressing the Rising Cost of Living NKRA.
He said in 2014, seven million households and individuals benefited from Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) distributions and there were currently, 161 Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia (KR1M), providing basic necessities at low prices.
Najib said apart from poverty, the GTP was also committed to raising education standards and creating a robust learning platform for students because children represented invaluable resources for Malaysia's future.
"Indeed, we will need several generations of highly skilled and knowledgeable workers to sustain our level of development," he added.
Despite a challenging 2014, he personally assured that the government and the GTP remain firmly committed to build an even safer, more prosperous and equal Malaysia.
