Government not shutting down economy, focusing on factory and construction sectors

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has stressed that it will not completely shut down the economy in curbing the spread of COVID-19.
On the other hand, Senior Minister of Defence, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, said the focus is currently on the manufacturing and construction sectors.
He stressed that the two sectors are currently recording the highest case of COVID-19 infections.
"We instruct all foreigners to undergo mandatory screening test as we are taking action against factories and construction sites.
"We have mandated screening tests on foreign workers who may cause the disease to spread in the community," he said in a press conference after visiting a roadblock in Sentul and Gombak Toll besides handing over food donations to frontline staff here today.
Ismail Sabri explained that every foreign worker throughout the country will be required to undergo screening test starting today.
