Government proposed to build hospital for APM

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions), Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof has proposed to the government to set up a medical centre for the Civil Defence Force (APM) considering the huge number of its volunteers.
“The number of APM volunteers now has exceeded 2.2 million people, with tens of thousands still active.
“So it is apt to have a medical centre for APM, like the one for the armed forces, in appreciation of their services and contributions to the society,” he told a media conference here last night.
Earlier, he presented the instrument of appointment to 34 APM officers, comprising academicians and professionals.
In another development, Mohd Redzuan said, APM was also in the process of improving its logistics in preparation for any disaster, as well as emergency cases.
He said it included the procurement of 30 four-wheel drive vehicles, worth RM4.1 million, which will be distributed to several states that are often affected by floods such as Terengganu, Kelantan, Sabah and Kedah this year
