Following are the highlights of the achievements of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) 2013.
* The seven National Key Result Areas (NKRAs) achieved an average rate of 104 percent of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
* Over 6.8 million lower-income Malaysians were provided extra assistance through the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M).
* 1.2 million tertiary education students received book vouchers worth RM250 each via the 1Malaysia Book Voucher (BB1M) initiative.
* 5.2 million primary and secondary students received RM100 assistance each to cover "back-to-school" and other expenses.
* 40 1Malaysia People's Shops (KR1M) were built in 2013 to offer more KR1M products to Malaysians. There are now a total of 125 KR1M shops in the country.
* 70 1Malaysia Clinics were built in 2013 to provide affordable medical treatment for the people. A total of 238 1Malaysia Clinics have been established since 2010 and thus far, treated 9.2 million patients.
* 1,110 food operators participated in the 1Malaysia People's Menu programme in 2013.
* 11,021 rural houses were built and restored, 31,004 rural households connected to clean water supply, 19,996 rural households connected to electricity supply, 1,241km of rural roads maintained, and 719km of rural roads built.
* Two sites of fresh fruit and vegetable farms were initiated by the private sector. State-driven modern farms were developed and maintained by state governments and their agencies, and existing or new economic activities run by village co-operatives were enhanced.
* Headway for KTM Komuter service improved from 30-45 minutes per train to 15 minutes during A.M. peak, longest Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route in Klang Valley approved, 18,000 passengers utilised the free GO-KL city bus service daily, and Central Market and Munshi Abdullah get new city bus terminus.
* 38,663 new participants in Low-Income Household NKRA's flagship 1AZAM programme, completed the development of 1,000 women entrepreneurs to increase their income levels, delivered homes and shelters to the underprivileged via collaboration with NGOs and corporate partners, and improved the lives of low-income households in Sarawak and Sabah.
* 24 primary and secondary schools awarded High-Performing School (HPS) status, increasing to 115 the number of HPS schools until the end of 2013.
* New Teacher Charter assessment instrument piloted to 410,000 teachers nationwide, and a total of 16,102 public pre-schools in the country completed the National Pre-School Quality Standard (SKPK) self-assessment by December 2013.
* Improved criteria for the award of New Deals to reward principals and head teachers, and expanded reach to Special Needs students.
* Violent crime cases fell by 30 per cent in first 52 days of "Op Cantas Khas" implementation and the International Liaison Unit (ILU) set up at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters to address the safety concerns of the expatriate and international business community.
* The amendments to the Prevention of Crime Act (PoCA) 1959 passed to give the police wider powers in addressing organised crime and hardcore violent criminals, and 813 reported arrests made in the first year (Jan-Nov 2013) of the Police Force's Motorcycle Patrolling Unit operations.
* 14 prison halfway houses went into operation throughout the country for selected ex-offenders, who found themselves homeless, after completing their prison sentence. A total of 862 ex-offenders utilised the halfway houses.
* 'Whitening' of 20 black spots completed to improve city infrastructure in 20 locations nationwide and over a million pledges in the United Against Crime (UAC) campaign's fight against crime.
* Malaysia moved up to 53rd spot in 2013 from 54th spot the previous year in Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index, Integrity Training conducted for members of parliament, and 27 corruption prevention secretariats set up at the teachers' training colleges.
* 50 government directly-negotiated contracts published online on the MyProcurement portal, and quicker access made available to the Auditor-General's Performance Audit Report on government expenditure.
