Govt denies being indifferent on reviving NFC project
The government has denied being indifferent to reviving the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) which has been in a hiatus over problems.
Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister, Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said the ministry was, in fact, in discussion and finding ways on how to revive the project.
"Who said the government is indifferent? We are concerned and we will not neglect the project," he said when replying to a supplementary question by Zuraida Kamarudin (PKR-Ampang) at the Dewan Rakyat here Monday, on measures to revive the NFC project.
Tajuddin said the ministry was also seeking new entrepreneurs to operate the satellite feedlot plantations nationwide and it did not depend on a handful of operators.
"Those interested will be given the opportunity to use the feedlot, we want to revive about 50 satellite feedlot plantations nationwide," he said.
Meanwhile, in reply to the original question by Datuk Henry Sum Agong (BN-Lawas), on efforts to raise the agriculture output, Tajuddin said the ministry had implemented various measures to formulate the National Agrofood Policy for 2011-2020 to ensure sufficient food supply.
