Eighty-five per cent of the 80,000 units of Rumah Mampu Milik Wilayah Persekutuan, or RUMAWIP, targeted to be built in the Federal Territories have been or are being developed as of August 2017.
According to Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, the initiative of the ministry to provide affordable houses for the citizens of Federal Territories was progressing well and that the ministry could possibly build more than the initial target of 80,000 units.
"Now, we aim to provide more than our initial target.
"We (Barisan Nasional) walk our talk, whatever you see today is not magic but proper planning," he said during the drawing of lots for Residensi Desa Satumas housing project here today.
Residensi Desa Satumas is a RUMAWIP cross-subsidise project developed by Aset Kayamas, comprising 3,002 units with built-up area of 850 sq ft.
Each three-bedroom unit is priced at about RM230,000.
Tengku Adnan also reminded house buyers under the initiative that they were tied with the 10 year-sales moratorium to avoid price speculations.
In addition, he also called on the public never to purchase RUMAWIP unit from any middleman or deal with them on this matter.
"We have our official portal for the purpose. If you want to buy a unit, visit the portal, the screening will be done there and no middleman is involved," he added.
